Personal Branding with Red Orange Studio
Coffee and Conversations
Happy Friday! Today I had the privilege of chatting personal branding at Red Orange Studio in downtown Richmond. Red Orange is "a tech-savvy creative agency that packs a punch when it comes to brand creation, graphic design and marketing solutions." Red Orange is definitely one of those cool agencies - they were decked out in their brand colors with a fun open floor plan, exercise balls to sit on while working, and even a SWING in their office. Talk about fun work breaks!
Red Orange has been hosting monthly Coffee and Conversations as a way to invite the community in to learn about topics such as marketing, SEO, blogging, and of course, personal branding.
Personal Branding Tips
Today I joined Kim Brundage, of Kim Brundage Photography, Holly of Makeup by Holly Beauty Partners, and Amy Garelick of Power Up. Together, we make up the "Dream Team" for Kim's branding session. Holly and her team do hair + make up, I handle (a la Olivia Pope) wardrobe, and Amy has recently joined as videographer. When a client comes for branding, we make sure they get a one-stop-shop experience for their branding needs.
I got to share some of my tried and true tips for what to wear when it comes to getting head shots or other branding photos.
- Avoid all black or all white - all black makes you look like a blob (not flattering) and all white can be too reflective for the camera.
- Avoid small patterns - this confuses the eye.
- Choose solid colors - this helps you stand out and looks more professional than a lot of patterns.

PS - my number one tip? Always dress to impress when heading to the grocery store because that WILL be when you see all the people you know. And yes, this happened to me.
