Elevate Everyday Outfits with Vintage Earrings

Hands down my favorite way to elevate an everyday outfit is by adding earrings - specifically, vintage earrings.

There are vintage earring styles out there for everyone’s taste: from glam, to modern, to simple, to retro, to colorful, to sparkly, to dangly, to studs, to hoops - you get the idea!

Why buy and wear vintage earrings?

  • Stand out from the crowd - vintage earrings give you the opportunity to choose something that’s different from what everyone else is buying from H&M, Shein, or Zara

  • Snag a lower price point - oftentimes, costume vintage earrings can be cheaper than buying new (unless of course you’re buying something super rare, precious metal, or designer).

  • Supercharge a basic outfit - jeans and tshirt kinda person? A big silver hoop will elevate that immediately. Wearing a tank and shorts? Throw on some dangling vintage earrings for some spark. There are so many styles of vintage earrings that can take an outfit from standard to something a lot more fun.

Top 3 places to start your vintage earring search:

  1. eBay. This is my #1 pick for you if you want to snag a few pairs of great vintage earrings. Huge variety, everything is online, and you can find very cheap options.

  2. Esty. My #2 pick for you. These options will be a little more curated and come with a slightly higher price tag, although I saw a lot of cheaper ones as well (i.e. under $25).

  3. Antique or vintage stores. My #3 pick for you. The selections will also be curated and prices will range from low to high, depending on the item and quality of item (silver, gold, gems, etc.).

If you love the hunt and shopping, I’d also recommend using these sources to find vintage earrings:

  1. Thrift stores. The source! This (and estate sales) is most likely where vintage sellers are getting their supply. Most thrift stores will have a selection of jewelry for pretty cheap.

  2. Estate sale auctions. Another great source. Prices can vary really widely here as there is often a combo of costume and fine jewelry. You’ll have to put in more work here to find sales and go to them. Another option is online sales - you’ll still have to search the listings, bid, and pick them up.

For about $7, I snagged a box of 14 vintage earrings from an estate sale. It was a grab bag with a lot of variety in the styles and I loved the different vibe they each brought my basic black tank top and light wash jeans.

Happy vintage earring hunting!
