Intro

Welcome to the From Hobby to Full Time podcast! All of March we’ll be touching on 4 cornerstone mindset beliefs that you need in order to be a successful entrepreneur.

So far we’ve, covered the Failure Mindset, the Growth Mindset, and today we’re gonna talk about the Perseverance + Patient Mindset.

Show notes

Perseverance! Patience!

These sucky, little words define business ownership.

Let’s talk about how long it takes until you hit the big time. Here are a few quotes, or stories from famous people.

  • Overnight success 15 years in the making.

  • Marie Forleo worked side jobs for SEVEN years before her business was bringing in enough money to go full time.

The BIGGEST thing you’ll need in starting your own personal styling business is perseverance and patience.

Things. Take. Time.

End of story.

The only thing you have control over is your attitude in your response to the time. And quite often, when you hit that sweet spot, things speed up just a bit.

Now, I will be the first to tell you that I am a Type A, perfectionist, who always has a ton of lists, goals and timelines that I want to achieve.

Learning to trust and be patient can be hard.

3 ways to persevere and be patient:

  1. Start a gratitude practice. Every time you find yourself saying “I wish..” or “I want…” change that to desire (wish and want are lack words) and immediately start being grateful for what you DO have and where you are. It will help over time.

  2. Don’t give up. I find so  many people are on the cusp of giving up. They are overwhelmed by everything going on in their life, their age, their full time job, their family - that sometimes it’s just easier to give up on the ream. Don’t. Rewrite your version of success like we talked about in the previous episode and pursue that.

  3. Find an accountability partner, coach, or group of friends who can cheer you on. Sometimes this is all you need when belief in yourself is waning. And if you don’t have people, find books you can jump into, find an online support group
